It was a first half void of any attacking flare from either side.

Colombia took strong control of the possession but failed to break down the bunkered Venezuelans, while La Vinotinto remained threatening on the break throughout the opening 45 minutes.

The scoresheet was finally dented early in the second half, as Borré fired Colombia into the lead with a close-range header.

Venezuela did little to claw their way back into the game, struggling to even get out of their own half. While Colombia failed to stretch their lead, it would not matter in the end, as Borré’s strike would be all that was required to seal all three points.
