The forward joined the Pilgrims in the summer from Port Vale in a deal worth a reported £1.2 million following their relegation from the Championship, and has proved a huge hit ever since at Home Park.

The 24-year-old had an impressive campaign in League Two, contributing 14 goals and eight assists to help the club gain promotion from the fourth division.

And he has made the step up to the third tier quite well under Tom Cleverley, with 13 goals to his name from 22 appearances this term.

The Swiss man has a contract with Plymouth until the summer of 2029, giving the club a lot of leverage in any potential transfer talks in the upcoming window, but his form is certain to have possible suitors on notice ahead of a potential summer saga.

Here we use estimated figures from Salary Sport to look at how much Tolaj is currently earning as part of his contract with the Devon outfit.

Tolaj made the jump up from League Two to League One in the summer, and has impressed many with his performances.

Fortunately for Plymouth, Cleverley has confirmed that there is no release clause in the forward’s contract, meaning they can set their asking price in the upcoming transfer window if there are going to be suitors looking for his signature.

Given he has a deal until June 2029, that should give the Pilgrims a lot of leverage in any potential negotiations.

However, his salary of £9,000 per week may be the highest among the current first team squad at Home Park, but there will still be plenty of Championship sides who could offer a more competitive wage package.

The 24-year-old joined Plymouth at the end of the last summer market and immediately became the club’s top earner.

Bali Mumba and Alex Mitchell are right behind in joint second, with the pair both receiving £8,500 per week from the League One side.

Jamie Paterson and Mathias Ross round out the top five with salaries of £8,100 and £7,900 per week, respectively.

Lorent Tolaj could leave Plymouth Argyle in the summer

Tolaj’s signing has been crucial for Plymouth this season, as they look to climb the third division table and fight for a play-off place.

Only Kyle Wooton, Jack Marriott and Dominic Ballard have scored more than his 14 goals this term, with Cleverley’s side 11th in the table.

The gap to the play-offs is now just six points due to the Pilgrims’ current three game winning run.

His brace in the 5-2 win against league leaders Cardiff City, which included the opening goal of the game, highlighted his quality after he made his first start for the team since returning from injury.

If he maintains this form to the end of the campaign, then Cleverley’s side will need to remain in contention for promotion to have the best chance possible of keeping him in the summer.

While he may have a few years remaining on his contract, clubs will still try to test Plymouth’s nerves in the summer and Championship football could be the most persuasive argument in favour of him remaining at Home Park for the next campaign.
