Lorran Lucas: The Dazzling Brazilian Admired Around The World

Article image:Lorran Lucas: The Dazzling Brazilian Admired Around The World

Lorran Lucas may not have been given the plaudits that other Brazilian wonderkids within the league have gotten in recent times, but that does not mean, by any stretch of the imagination, that he’s not as talented. The 18-year-old had a breakthrough season in the iconic red and black colours of Flamengo last season, becoming the youngest scorer in the club’s history in the process, eclipsing a record held by a certain Real Madrid player many might be aware of by the name of Vinicius Junior.

His best position comes in the attacking midfield role, but he can also play on either wing, exuding an early showcase of the versatility that can separate good players from elite players as they mature within their careers. Lorran is described as an explosive player with an air of grace. As quick as his feet can move, his mind is able to keep up with that pace too, allowing him to deliver intricate passes through the eye of a needle as well as take opponents on in one-on-one battles.

Lorran Lucas: Flamengo’s Next Star

He made his way through the Flamengo youth system all the way into the first team, while also being a key player for Brazil on the youth stage. At the time of writing this article, the 18-year-old has made 13 appearances for Brazil’s under-17 side, scoring on one occasion against Uruguay in the U17 South American Championship.

He’s been tipped as the next big star in Brazilian football, and he is in the best hands possible when it comes to nurturing young players. Lorran is represented by Roc Nation Sports, the agency behind players like Vini Jr., Lucas Paqueta, and the most recent potential superstar to come out of Brazil, Endrick. The agency has a rich history of supporting some of these young stars and helping them make the best choices when it comes to their careers, and that’s not expected to be any different in the case of Lorran Lucas.

The Brazilian Gareth Bale?

The Flamengo midfielder is primarily left-footed but does have the ability to use his right foot, which is a massive bonus in a league like the Premier League. Predictability can be the difference between a player taking that next step or staying stagnant, and in the midfield as well as on the right wing, the choice to go down either side or make a killer pass with either foot can be vital. Lorran has that Gareth Bale-esque ability to knock the ball past a defender and run onto it down the line, one of the least defensible and scary prospects for a player to face when trying to stop an attack.

He has a deft weight of pass, accompanied by impressive vision for a player at such a young age. He’s also built extremely well physically and can ride challenges, even heavy ones, and still come out on the other side with the ball. This is something that could stand to him if he ever decides to make a switch to the more physical leagues in European football, such as the French League or the English League. One of his best abilities is something that may, in the future, be called the Lorran Flick. The 18-year-old likes to flick the ball over the head of an opposition player frequently throughout games, no matter whether he’s in a central area or trying to unlock a defence in the wide areas. Flair and fearlessness are his best features, and one would hope they are two qualities he never loses from his game, no matter how high of a level he goes on to play at.

Manchester United Eye Lorran:

It has been revealed in the past that Lorran has had interest from Manchester United and Chelsea, with both clubs scouting him as far back as October 2023. Flamengo has a €50 million release clause inserted into his contract, with no club triggering that clause as of yet. That isn’t an indicator, however, that the player is short of suitors, with a number of clubs across Europe keeping a close eye on his progress within the Brazilian league.

Vinicius Junior is a fan of Lorran too, having recently tweeted out after watching a game that the Brazilian midfielder is a “Ball Wizard”. There is a huge belief and slight expectation within Brazil that Lorran could be the next player to carry the torch for Brazilian football, but there is an importance for those within the media to be calm and collected when making their predictions for the future of the player. It’s great to state a player’s qualities and speak about their potential, but it’s also important as members of the media with such a huge sway in public opinion to not put so much pressure on what is effectively a young kid trying to enjoy his time playing the beautiful sport he loves.

Lorran Lucas is a supremely talented individual, with all the tools to become one of the brightest players on the planet in the coming years, but let’s let him enjoy living his dream for now and marvel at his quality while he does that.
