Manchester United have focused this summer on improving their midfield.

Midfield signings

The departure of last season’s hero Casemiro and the long-term injury to Manuel Ugarte made improvements in the engine room a necessity.

Andrey Santos was the first to be brought in, and Youri Tielemans followed him quickly after in July. Carlos Baleba had been pursued since last August, but the club finally got the deal over the line last week.

Cristian Orozco was also brought in for the under-21s, and the Red Devils have been looking at even more young talent.

Louis Page

United were reported to be in talks with Page earlier this month, and it had seemed that the Red Devils had stolen a march over rivals Arsenal.

There were also suggestions that United had agreed a deal with Leicester for the player, but these reports were proven to be premature.

Leicester manager Russell Martin has made it clear that Leicester would prefer to keep the young star, and with less than 48 hours of the window remaining, it appears he will get his way.

Deal unlikely

Local paper Leicester Mercury states that, according to their sources, they understand, “as it stands, Page will stay at the club this summer.”

The article also states that, “concerns emerged on Sunday after Page’s cousin, Ethan, posted an Instagram story showing himself at Old Trafford for United’s Premier League win over Ipswich Town, before later sharing another story showing Page’s Leicester shirt.”

Nonetheless, Page himself was not at the game and “remains in contention to feature against Plymouth Argyle.”

Of course, things could change and United could pursue a move in the winter window or next summer, but a deal before Tuesday night now seems unlikely to occur.

The Peoples Person Reliability Assessment Overall credibility: 9/10 Why?

✅ The source is an excellent one for Leicester City news ✅ Leicester have been consistent in driving a hard bargain for the midfielder ✅ United have proven numerous times all summer they will walk away if they disagree with a valuation

We believe that Page is very much a target for Manchester United, but with so little time remaining and United’s insistence on not overpaying, it is very plausible that a deal will not get done this summer.
