Luan Peres returned to group training as Santos reconvened on Friday morning at CT Rei Pelé after progressing past Coritiba in the Copa do Brasil. The centre-back wore protection on his left hand following a recent fracture.
According to Diario Do Peixe, the starters from Wednesday’s match completed recovery work, while the remaining players took part in technical and tactical drills on the pitch.
Peres had missed the last two games because of the injury and, having trained as normal, there is an expectation he will be named in Cuca’s squad for the coming fixtures.
Santos are also monitoring João Schmidt and Gabriel Menino after both felt problems in the right hamstring during the midweek win over Coritiba.
Schmidt left in the opening minutes and was replaced by Willian Arão. Gabriel Menino, only recently back from an issue in the same area, felt it again late on and left the pitch in tears. He was consoled by team-mates on the bench.
Both underwent tests on Friday, with results yet to be released by the club. The likelihood is that both will miss the next matches.
The squad will hold a final session on Saturday before travelling to São Paulo. The staff are expected to use it to decide the starting XI. The sides meet again on Sunday at 11:00 Brasília time at Neo Química Arena in the 16th round of the Brasileiro.
