Valencia’s knee troubles persist, with Lucas Beltrán the latest worry. The Argentine has patellar tendon discomfort and has already missed the trip to Villarreal at La Cerámica and last weekend’s home game against Osasuna.
Beltrán remains out of group training. The Fiorentina loanee was the most notable absentee from Carlos Corberán’s Friday session at the Ciutat Esportiva de Paterna. Cadena Cope reports he has now been sidelined for 13 days, heightening concern in the run-in.
The patellar tendon issue has the staff on alert, as his performances had picked up since the start of the year. His attitude, and his wish to extend his stay in Valencia, have underpinned that improvement.
He completed 90 minutes in Levante v Valencia, then dropped out late from the squad for the derby at Villarreal. Hopes he could recover for Osasuna faded as the week progressed.
After almost two weeks out, the chances of a Sunday return are very slim, and all signs point to the attacking midfielder missing a third match because of the knee pain.
