The Versailles prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into Lucas Hernandez and his fiancée Victoria Triay for alleged undeclared work and human trafficking, AFP reported, after Paris Match revealed a complaint filed on 14 January by a Colombian family.
The family's lawyer, Me Lola Dubois, said the alleged conduct resembled modern slavery.
The family of five from Bogotá, two parents and three children including one minor, are said to have arrived in stages without tourist visas or residence permits.
They say they worked for a little over a year, from September 2024 to November 2025, for Hernandez and his future wife in various domestic and security roles. They claim there were no formal declarations, payslips or social protection, wages of €500 to €3,000 a month were paid in cash, and hours reached 72 to 84 a week.
After an initial warning over alleged broken promises, the family proceeded with the complaint. Hernandez agreed in October 2025 to put contracts in place, but the report said the paperwork came after the mother and daughter had been dismissed by Triay days earlier.
Hernandez and Triay said they never acted with malice or in contempt of the law, that their compassion was exploited and their trust betrayed. They said the matter is now being handled through appropriate legal channels.
According to the report, their response includes a defamation complaint against the Colombian family. Hernandez's agent Frank Hocquemiller expressed total surprise, while the player's camp suggested some people try to extract money.
