Speaking exclusively to L’Équipe, former Tottenham Hotspur forward Lucas Moura (30) has advised international teammate Neymar (31) to move to the Premier League if the former Barcelona player is unhappy at his current club Paris Saint-Germain.
Former Parisien Moura left Tottenham this summer following the expiry of his contract with the club. The Brazilian was questioned about the future of a current PSG player – Neymar. The former Barcelona man’s future at the club is unclear. It was expected that he would leave this summer, however, the arrival of Luis Enrique as the club’s new manager could influence Neymar’s, and PSG’s, decision. Enrique worked with Neymar at Barcelona.
However, should Neymar look to leave the reigning Ligue 1 champions, Moura, who played for PSG for five years (2013-2018), advised his compatriot to make a move to the Premier League.
“It depends on him and what he wants, what he wants in his career. It depends on how he feels in Paris, at the club, if he’s happy with his teammates if he likes Ligue 1… but if he is thinking of leaving PSG, and if he is no longer happy there, then I’d advise him to go to play in the Premier League. It’s the highest and most exciting league,” he said.
Neymar’s current contract with PSG expires in 2025, but the deal includes an option for a further year. The Brazilian hasn’t played since February and underwent surgery on 10th March. He is expected to return to training next month ahead of the start of the 2023/24 season.
