Lucas Stassin struck twice in a 3-0 win at Pau on Saturday, ending a five-month drought and giving AS Saint-Étienne’s 21-year-old centre-forward a timely lift for the run-in.
As reported by Le Progres, he celebrated beaming in Ilan’s arms, a personal release shared by the squad after they had already mobbed him for his rapid opener.
Midfielder Florian Tardieu said he was very happy, and he was also pleased for Joshua Duffus, who had gone three and a half months without a goal.
Tardieu described Stassin as someone he looks out for, noting that football always brings difficult phases. He said it is the start of Stassin’s career, wished him a long and fine one, and accepted there will always be testing moments.
The brace may be a timely spark for Saint-Étienne at a key point in their season.
