Luciano Spalletti has discussed what he expects from Nick Woltemade, including the areas where the German attacker needs to improve after spending time with him on the training pitch.

Woltemade made a late move to the Allianz Stadium after Juventus managed to offload Jonathan David, and the Old Lady will now be looking to get the most out of their new striker. The German has the qualities to make an impact, but his success will depend partly on how well he performs under Spalletti.

The manager wanted a striker and now has one at his disposal. His task is to understand how best to use Woltemade and ensure Juventus can improve their goalscoring output. The German will be expected to contribute as the Bianconeri look to strengthen their attack.

Spalletti explains Woltemade’s qualities

It remains to be seen whether Woltemade will start alongside Randal Kolo Muani, but Spalletti is already developing an understanding of how best to deploy the German international striker.

The Juventus manager believes Woltemade can bring different qualities together through his style of play. His ability to link with his teammates and then attack spaces could make him a useful option in the final third.

Spalletti also believes there are areas where Woltemade must continue to develop. In particular, the German needs to improve his heading and finishing, which the manager feels are important aspects of his game that he must learn thoroughly.

Woltemade has made a positive impression

Spalletti also highlighted the attitude Woltemade has shown since arriving at Juventus. The manager revealed that the striker has been constantly smiling since he has known him, suggesting that the German is happy with the opportunity to represent the Bianconeri.

He said via Football Italia:

“He brings two worlds together in the way he plays. He’s very good at coming to link with the team, he’s light in his technique, he knows football, he can come and knock the ball around in the final third and then attack the spaces. Heading and finishing are things that, whether he likes it or not, he’ll have to learn by heart. Since I’ve known him he’s been smiling constantly: he’s delighted to be here.”

Woltemade now has the opportunity to prove himself under Spalletti, with his ability to combine play and attack spaces likely to be important to Juventus.
