Toby Collyer is ‘expected to join’ Hull City on loan from Manchester United before Monday’s deadline, as per Samuel Luckhurst.

The move has been in the works for well over a fortnight, with the Tigers ready to welcome Collyer to their ranks after initially missing out on his signature last summer.

Before 2025/2026 got underway, the midfielder had a host of suitors to choose from as he looked to gain vital first-team experience throughout the campaign.

He, and United, eventually favoured West Bromwich Albion, whom Collyer joined in mid-August.

While not a total disaster, it’s safe to say that his spell didn’t have the desired effect on his senior career that United wanted.

Collyer made only three Championship starts and made another nine appearances off the bench under Ryan Mason – until he sustained a serious knee injury in November that resulted in him returning to his parent club.

The academy graduate, who signed from Brighton and Hove Albion in March 2022, reported back to Carrington at the start of December to undergo his rehabilitation and start his recovery.

United then officially recalled him from his loan at the turn of the year, despite the Baggies having hopes he would resume his stint when match fit.

Instead, he is poised to make the switch to the MKM Stadium in hopes of aiding Hull’s promotion charge as best he can.

The side currently sit fourth-placed in the division and are locked on points with third-placed Ipswich Town.

Come the end of the season, United will then have to make a decision on the 22-year-old’s future, and whether he has a realistic shot at nailing down a starting role at Old Trafford.

Collyer is contracted to the club until 2027, plus the option of an additional 12 months.
