Manchester United will look to offload both Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir when the summer window opens.

That’s according to Samuel Luckhurst, who adds that the club would need to make at least £18.8 million from Onana’s departure in order to avoid taking a PSR loss.

How Bayindir and Onana have fared for United

Bayindir and Onana signed in the same window for £4.3m and £43.8m respectively, with the latter brought in to succeed long-serving goalkeeper David de Gea following the expiration of his contract.

Then-manager Erik ten Hag had pushed for the Cameroonian’s arrival after working with him at Ajax, so urged the board to make him the new No.1 in De Gea’s absence.

However, the shot-stopper would go on to oversee an error-ridden campaign at Old Trafford, during which he conceded a whopping 83 goals in 51 appearances and kept only 13 clean sheets.

Such catastrophic form continued into his sophomore season between the sticks, and, by the end of 2024/2025, Bayindir had replaced him as Ruben Amorim’s first-choice for four of the last seven Premier League matches.

Onana’s dismal showing in United’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur led to him being demoted behind the Turkish international.

Then, when 2025/2026 got underway, he featured only once under Amorim in United’s second round Carabao Cup tie away to Grimsby Town. Onana conceded two first-half goals against the League Two opposition and let in 12 penalties in the shootout, spelling the end of his Red Devils career – he joined Trabzonspor on loan in the subsequent days.

Bayindir already has one suitor waiting to negotiate deal

In the meantime, Bayindir wasn’t making the best impression when being trusted as Amorim’s No.1.

In the six games he played at the start of the term, he conceded 11 goals as United lost three times and failed to keep a clean sheet.

Bayindir was linked with a return to his homeland in the winter when Besiktas established their interest, but United rebuffed their approach as it would’ve left only Lammens and 39-year-old Tom Heaton as senior goalkeeping options.
