Ruben Amorim retains the backing of INEOS following Manchester United’s worst start to a season in 33 years, as per the Manchester Evening News.
Sunday’s defeat at the Etihad marked a second Premier League defeat in the opening four matches, leaving Manchester United 14th in the table.

The opening day loss to Arsenal last month had United kickstart their campaign on the wrong foot, although it was made substantially worse when they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by League Two outfit Grimsby Town.
As a result, they now have only the league and, when it starts up again later this term, the FA Cup to focus on just one month into 2025/2026.
According to a statistic shared by Sky Sports at full-time on Sunday, Amorim is now the worst permanent United manager on record since World War II. Even still, Samuel Luckhurst has assured that the club’s key decision-makers will give him time to turn things around at Old Trafford.
He did add, however, that a source close to Amorim has acknowledged it’s ‘incredible’ that the Portuguese coach’s job is not considered ‘under genuine threat’.
United have scored only one open-play goal in six hours of action in the league. This comes after shelling out a combined £193.8 million (excluding add-ons) to completely revitalise Amorim’s frontline with the additions of Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.
The latter missed the derby through injury while Sesko was granted his first league start, but had essentially scraps to work with and registered only one shot in the 80 minutes he played.
