Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur’s Europa League showdown is underway at San Mames Stadium.
Ruben Amorim opted to make just one change from last Friday’s defeat at Stamford Bridge, with the returning Leny Yoro recovering from his injury in time to feature from the off.
His front three sees Rasmus Hojlund flanked by Amad and Mason Mount while Bruno Fernandes operates through the middle, meaning Alejandro Garnacho starts on the bench for the third straight game.
It’s thought the youngster hasn’t taken too kindly to the decision, either. Samuel Luckhurst shared on X/Twitter in the build-up to kick-off: “Garnacho clearly not taken it well, given a(nother) passive aggressive social media post referencing his FA Cup final goal last season. He’s still on the pitch speaking to Sergio Reguilon.”
On Instagram earlier today, Garnacho shared a picture of himself celebrating his goal in this term’s Community Shield final against Manchester City. However, he came off the bench to score in that clash – like he’ll be looking to do tonight – so labelling it as a passive-aggressive post may be a bit of a stretch.

Garnacho has played 57 matches across 2024/2025, scoring 11 goals and assisting a further 10. 36 of those appearances have been as a starter.
Yet, the 20-year-old may have been given the nod considerably less had Amad been available for the full season – hence his struggling for game time since his Ivorian counterpart returned to the fold.
On a positive note, Joshua Zirkzee has also been named as a substitute after initially being ruled out of the rest of the campaign when he suffered a hamstring injury only last month.
