Luds Castro returns to Grmio20s training ground on Wednesday facing a to-do list to steady a stuttering season.
According to Globo.com, after a below-par first half of the year and boos in the last game at the Arena, the coach must find answers before 23 July, when Grmio visit Boldvar in the Sudamericana play-offs.
Castro admitted after defeat to Corinthians that inconsistency has dogged his side, citing injuries and fatigue, and said he would have liked better results, particularly in the Brasileir3o. The team never strung together more than two straight wins and have struggled away.
In the league, Grmio have played nine away matches without a victory and are the third-worst travellers. After roughly 150 days in charge, a clear game model remains elusive.
A No 10 setup was trialled with Gabriel Mec, then shelved at times, including the first half of the draw with City Torque in the Sudamericana. A back three was also tested before a late return to a centre-back pairing.
Player sales, important to the club20 9s finances, could remove starters, with Viery and Gabriel Mec possible departures in the next window. Castro may need internal solutions, including promoting academy players.
Arthur2020s future is also unresolved as the captain2020s contract runs out at month2020s end, with no pathway yet in talks with Juventus for him to remain.
