Luis Castro’s position as Nantes head coach is hanging by a thin thread, according to Ouest-France. Les Canaris have only won 2 Ligue 1 games this season out of a possible 15, and Saturday’s home defeat against league leaders RC Lens (1-2) may be the last straw for the Portuguese. The outlet understands that Nantes have started to scour the market for a possible replacement for Castro.
The former USL Dunkerque head coach is reportedly no longer on speaking terms with the Nantes’ executives, with whom relations look beyond repair following Castro’s comments regarding the poor quality of the squad at his disposal. The former SL Benfica youth head coach notably said that Nantes’ results keep on worsening everytime he turns to his bench. Several head coaches have already been sounded out, which means Castro may not make the bench for next Friday’s away clash against Angers.
