Luis de la Fuente: Barcelona star is better for Spain than Blaugrana | OneFootball

Spanish national team head coach Luis de la Fuente has revealed his take that Barcelona star Pedri plays at a superior level for his country than his club.

This comes amid ongoing chatter surrounding the 23-year-old’s role for La Roja.

Pedri has as expected continued to play a leading role for Spain at this summer’s World Cup, featuring from the off in all three of his nation’s group stage fixtures.

His position, though, has continued to generate debate, amid something of a debate regarding whether the Barcelona man should take to the pitch in a deep or more advanced midfield role.

Speaking to the media on Monday, the subject of Pedri’s form on the international stage, compared to his exploits at club level, was therefore put to the aforementioned Luis de la Fuente.

And Spain’s headmaster went on to explain to RTVE his opinion that:

“For me, Pedri is better for Spain than he is for Barcelona! With us, he’s exceptional.”
