Luis de la Fuente provides injury update on Real Madrid star | OneFootball

Spanish national team head coach Luis de la Fuente has provided an update on the wellbeing of Real Madrid star Dean Huijsen.

This comes after the youngster was forced to sit out his country’s meeting with Georgia.

La Roja were back in action a short time ago, making short work of Georgia to the tune of a 4-0 victory in World Cup qualifying.

Huijsen, however, played no part.

After pulling up with a fitness problem in training on Friday, the 20-year-old was not risked, left out of Spain’s matchday squad entirely.

Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of Huijsen’s wellbeing was put to manager Luis de la Fuente.

And Spain’s headmaster went on to explain:

“Huijsen has a slight discomfort, but as we’ve always said, the priority is the player, although some don’t want to understand this. We will assess him tomorrow with our medical staff & Real Madrid’s to see if he returns. He can play on Tuesday, but we’ll asses him tomorrow with all available data.”
