After a difficult start to the season, Bayern Munich forward Luis Díaz has been left out of Colombia’s squad for their upcoming friendlies against Mexico, Paraguay and Peru.

The decision was made in cooperation between Bayern and the Colombian Football Federation, allowing Díaz to rest and work on getting back to his best in Munich.

Explaining the decision, Colombia coach Néstor Lorenzo said (via reputable FC Bayern-focused X account iMiaSanMia):

“I spoke with him and said: ‘You look tired, Lucho. You don’t have your usual sprint, what’s wrong?’ And well, we agreed that he should rest this week because he has played more than 60 games.”

Díaz is expected to start when Bayern Munich host 1. FC Union Berlin in the Bundesliga on Friday in what will be their final game before the international break.
