Luis Enrique can call on João Neves for Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League tie with Chelsea this evening, 11 March, after the former Benfica midfielder’s recovery.
The club said in a statement that Neves, sidelined since 25 February, returned to training on Tuesday, 10 March, and may be included in the squad for the match.
He sustained an ankle injury against Monaco in the second leg of the Champions League play-off. Despite a draw, the Paris side progressed to the next stage.
In contrast, Luis Enrique will be without Fabián Ruiz and Quentin Ndjantou.
This is a reunion with Chelsea, their previous meeting coming in the Club World Cup final, which the Londoners won 3-0. A quarter-final place is at stake, with the first leg in Paris and the return at Stamford Bridge on 17 March.
Neves, valued at 110 million euros, has made 24 appearances for PSG this season, 14 in Ligue 1, seven in the Champions League, and one each in the Intercontinental Cup, Coupe de France and French Super Cup. Across 1,834 minutes, he has six goals and two assists.
