Since Luis Enrique arrived at Paris Saint-Germain in July of 2023, he has set out to completely transform the club. Along with Luis Campos, PSG’s football advisor, he helped transition the club from its superstar era to a team-first philosophy. The result was the most successful season in PSG history.
The 2024-25 season will go down in the history books for PSG. Luis Enrique led PSG to a historic sextuple, including the Ligue 1, Coupe de France, Trophée des Champions, UEFA Champions League, UEFA European Super Cup, and FIFA Intercontinental Cup trophies. The only trophy that escaped PSG was the FIFA Club World Cup, where they lost to Chelsea FC in the final.
Luis Enrique’s current contract keeps him in the French capital until 2027, but PSG obviously would like to keep him in place for the foreseeable future. In fact, it’s been reported before that PSG would be open to a lifetime contract for the manager who finally delivered the Champions League trophy.
A new report from journalist Abdellah Boulma reveals that PSG and Luis Enrique are in fact close to extending his contract, with both parties being in agreement for several months. There are no concerns over a potential departure, and the deal will be announced in due time.
The last part of that report is important because it was revealed that Luis Enrique was a top target for the Manchester United job. He is set to reject that proposal and instead remain at PSG, where he will undoubtedly go down as a club legend.
