Luis Pacheco, 17, makes Palmeiras debut v Juventude

The young midfielder Luis Pacheco, 17 years old, was one of the new faces for Palmeiras in the victory over Juventude this Saturday (11) at Allianz Parque. A standout in the youth categories, he took advantage of a series of absences in the Verdão squad and came onto the field in the second half, replacing Andreas Pereira – it was his professional debut.

Verdão was without Aníbal Moreno and Emiliano Martínez, who are with their national teams for the FIFA break, and also Lucas Evangelista, who underwent surgery on his thigh and will only return in 2026. This was the first time Pacheco was included in the squad.

Luis Pacheco, captain of the Under-17 team, is seen as one of the biggest names in the current Palmeiras youth system. This season, he has played 17 matches for the Under-17s, scoring three goals, and has made three appearances for the Under-20s.

Although he is primarily a defensive midfielder, the youngster is considered a player with the ability to get forward in attack as well, and can also play as a number 8 – a standard trait in the Palmeiras youth academy.

He renewed his contract with Palmeiras last Thursday (9). The new deal is valid until September 2028 and includes a release clause of 100 million euros (R$ 631 million) for foreign clubs. He has been with Verdão since 2020, when he was 12 years old.

With the Palmeiras youth teams, the Academy graduate has already won four titles, including two editions of the Brasileirão Under-20 (2024 and 2025) and a Paulista Under-15 (2023).

Coutinho, who recently played in the Under-20 World Cup for the Brazilian National Team, is another player who may get opportunities and is being watched by Abel. Larson, the number 8 from the Under-20s, was also included in the squad for the match against Juventude and is now on the radar.
