Luis Suárez's form becomes an unexpected problem for Sporting; full story | OneFootball

Sporting are trying to avoid overusing Luis Suárez while he is on duty with Colombia, but the situation is far from straightforward. Rui Borges wants the striker in the best possible condition for the trip to Braga, scheduled for October 9.

According to the newspaper A Bola, . Suárez himself is also said to have raised the matter with the national team coach, given the short gap between the friendlies against Paraguay and Peru and the match at the Pedreira.

The problem for Sporting lies in the reality of the Colombian national team itself. The team is still looking for a clear first-choice centre-forward, and Néstor Lorenzo wants to use this international break to take a close look at the three main alternatives.

In addition to Luis Suárez, Kevin Viveros of Athletico Paranaense and Camilo Durán of Celtic are also in the running for the spot. All three offer different qualities, which is why the coach wants to test every option before establishing a clearer pecking order in attack.

Even so, Suárez has strong arguments in his favour. The striker scored again against Mexico and is enjoying an excellent run of form, strengthening his bid to become Colombia’s main attacking reference point during this period of renewal.
