Luiz Araújo could revive Flamengo role under Leonardo Jardim

Flamengo have appointed Leonardo Jardim following Filipe Luís’s departure, and winger Luiz Araújo could find fresh opportunities under the new head coach.

According to Coluna Do Fla, Jardim took charge of Cruzeiro in 2025 and asked the club to sign Araújo, whose playing style he admires. Flamengo refused to negotiate at the time.

Jardim knows Araújo from French football, having faced him when the forward was at Lille and he was coaching Monaco, then featuring Mbappé.

He will lead his first training session on Wednesday (04) at CT Ninho do Urubu from 16:00 Brasília time.

Flamengo now have the Campeonato Carioca final ahead, meeting Fluminense at the Maracanã on Sunday (08) at 18:00 Brasília time. The match will be shown on Rede Globo free-to-air and on Premiere pay-per-view.
