Vinicius Jr began the wreckage of Levante in Real Madrid’s La Liga clash last night with a goal that can only be described as sensational.
Taking a shot from long distance and a complicated angle, the Brazilian star used the outside of his right boot to put the ball past the goalkeeper and into the back of the net, announcing to the world that he still has magic at his feet.
After the game, the player came out to credit a former Real Madrid player and club legend – Luka Modric – for teaching him the technique of shooting from outside the boot.
“Luka Modric taught me how to shoot like this. We miss him. I’m very good at that punch. I hope I can continue to score goals like this,” he said.
Vinicius Jr went on to take to his social media to share the result of last night’s match on Instagram where he was met with a comment by none other than Modric himself. The legend’s words, in fact, serve as testimony that the Brazilian learnt the art flawlessly.

“What a goal, brother,” the now AC Milan star wrote, showing that he still regularly follows his former club’s games.
Over the years, the outside-the-boot pass and shot became Modric’s trademark and he was indeed the king of the trivela. Receiving praise from him for the strike, needless to say, is as good as it gets.
The legacy of Modric, thus, continues in Madrid through Vinicius Jr. and all the other youngsters the Croatian star guided including Arda Guler. Real Madrid, thus, will always be indebted to the legend.
As for the Brazilian winger himself, he is catching up after a slow start to the season and now has three goal contributions in his last two games for the club. Xabi Alonso will hope that he soon rediscovers his blazing best.
