Real Madrid star Luka Modrić has on Saturday evening revealed his hopes of triumphing at this summer’s Club World Cup.
Midfielder Modrić, for his part, is of course fresh off an emotional afternoon in Spain’s capital.
After it was announced earlier this week that the 39-year-old’s contract terms will not be renewed by Real Madrid, the Croatian took to the pitch at the Santiago Bernabéu for the very last time.
En route to a 2-0 Blancos triumph over Real Sociedad, Modrić, late on, was afforded a guard of honour by the two sets of players.
Following the full-time whistle, the veteran engine room star, in turn, took his place in the middle of the pitch, to deliver one final speech to the Real Madrid faithful.
And Modrić made use of the opportunity to highlight his hopes of going all the way at this summer’s maiden Club World Cup, explaining:
“One last dance at the Club World Cup. We will give everything to bring the trophy here and celebrate with our people. Ending my Real Madrid career with that title would be amazing.”
