Lukas Nmecha hails £34m signing Tarik Muharemovic after Leeds win and backs youngsters | OneFootball

Lukas Nmecha hailed Leeds United’s new signing Tarik Muharemovic and praised the club’s youngsters after a pre-season victory.

Nmecha struck from distance in the eighth minute as Leeds beat Sunderland 1-0 in New Jersey on Thursday, with the 23-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international making his debut at centre-back and helping secure a clean sheet.

Leeds have spent £34m to land Muharemovic, making him the club’s second most expensive signing. "I think everyone saw how good he is straight away. He looks so comfortable on the ball. I think he had a very good first game and hopefully he can keep it going," said Nmecha, speaking to LUTV.

With several academy players involved across the USA tour, including another start for Callum Mills, Nmecha was encouraged by their progress.

"I think even within the team, I think we have seen quite a lot of development from the young boys. Last season a lot of them were with us but I think this pre-season they have really pushed on a little bit and showed some good qualities."
