Luke Ayling has signed a new one-year contract at Middlesbrough, keeping the defender at the Championship club until 2027.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the 34-year-old right-back first arrived on loan from Leeds in January 2024 after eight years at Elland Road. He made the move permanent that summer.
He played 28 times in 2024-25 as Boro finished 10th, and has already made 38 appearances this season with the team sitting second with seven games to play.
Ayling has featured at right-back and centre-back, has worn the armband on several occasions, and his Middlesbrough tally now stands at 66 outings.
He acknowledged last season was not good for him, said he has enjoyed this campaign and that the squad want to take the club back to the Premier League.
Describing it as a great season so far, he highlighted the supporters’ importance over the remainder of the campaign and spoke of making those games special.
