Manchester United defender has not played since February

Luke Shaw trained with the rest of the England squad ahead of their final Euro 2024 group game against Slovenia, raising the prospect of the left-back playing a role at the tournament.

Shaw has been sidelined since February with a hamstring injury and has largely been working individually in Germany.

But the Manchester United defender joined the main session as England trained at their Blankenheim base on Monday before travelling to Cologne.

Kieran Trippier, who has played at left-back while Shaw recovers, also trained amid reports he is carrying a calf injury.

Ezri Konsa and Joe Gomez - both right-footed - will be in line to replace Trippier if Southgate chooses to rotate him against Slovenia on Tuesday.

It remains to be seen whether Shaw will be ready to return against Slovenia but his return to training is a boost for Southgate.

The England manager did not name another specialist left-back in his 26-man squad, with Chelsea's Ben Chilwell and Crystal Palace's Tyrick Mitchell overlooked.
