Dodi Lukebakio has issued a social media apology after his angry reaction to being substituted in Benfica’s 4-1 win over Moreirense.

The incident occurred during matchday 31, culminating in a war of words with José Mourinho as he reached the bench. According to O Jogo, the club hierarchy consider him on thin ice, with an exit possible and a need to prove his worth over the final three league games.

In an Instagram story, the Belgium international said his frustration in the last match was out of character and without excuse. He added that he demands a lot from himself and let his emotions take over.

He said he holds high expectations and always wants to show his best version. He thanked supporters for their backing since his arrival and vowed to repay it on the pitch.

The winger wears Benfica’s number 11 shirt.
