Luton Town enjoyed an extremely busy summer transfer window, which saw Matt Bloomfield add 14 new signings to his squad.

The Hatters have made their intentions abundantly clear for the 25/26 season through their summer transfer business: they aren't planning to stick around in League One.

Bloomfield's boys have made a solid start to their first campaign back at third tier level following their Championship relegation last season, sitting seventh with four wins and two defeats from their opening six league games.

Kal Naismith, Nahki Wells, Josh Keeley and Jerry Yates are among those 14 new arrivals at Kenilworth Road this summer, but are any of those individuals the most exciting addition made by the club?

"Brilliant" - George Saville identified as Luton Town's most exciting summer signing

We asked our Luton Town fan pundit, Simon Mills: 'Which summer signing at Luton Town excites you the most, and why?'

Mills said: "This is going to sound weird because typically, you wouldn't get excited over this type of player, per se.

"But it's George Saville for me.

"I think that he's been a brilliant signing. I think that it's something we have really, really lacked over the last two years at Luton Town.

"Bite in a midfielder. One who can press high up the pitch. One who knows exactly what his job on the field is.

"I've really missed that kind of character in the team."

George Saville has enjoyed superb start to Luton Town career - he could be one of the signings of the season

One of the foundations of Luton Town's rise before their recent fall was their ability to conduct shrewd transfer business, finding bargains and taking calculated chances on certain players.

Amari'i Bell, Elijah Adebayo, Kal Naismith, Alfie Doughty and Carlton Morris have all been examples of this, and Saville looks to be another excellent piece of business for the Hatters.

Signed on a free transfer following his release from Millwall this summer, the 32-year-old central midfielder turned down Championship opportunities - as revealed by Bloomfield - to sign on at Kenilworth Road.

The Northern Ireland international had been enjoying his fourth separate stint as a Millwall player over the last four seasons, during which he never failed to make more than 40 total appearances for the Lions in all competitions in that time.

Indeed, 24/25 was the season in which he made his most appearances in all competitions over the course of his entire career so far, with 49 total outings for the Lions, highlighting that despite now being a couple of years on the wrong side of 30, there is still plenty of gas left in the tank.

And to start his Luton Town career this term, he's arguably been the club's best player through the early weeks of the campaign.

He's started all six of Luton's League One games so far, bagging a goal and an assist in that time too, and already looks to be forming one of the third tier's strongest central midfield partnerships alongside Jordan Clark.

A real do-it-all midfielder, Saville has just shy of 380 Championship appearances under his belt, whilst also having made over 60 at League One level; experience which will prove vital if Luton are to make an instant return to the second tier this season.

Therefore, on a free transfer no less, Saville looks to be one of the bargain finds of the 25/26 League One season, and could well be instrumental to their success this term.
