Lyon have secured Caen prospect Cluver Sambi Mbungu on his first professional contract. According to Le Progres, the 17-year-old midfielder has agreed a three-year deal, keeping him at the club until 2029.

The move continues an active window for Lyon after the arrivals of Mads Bidstrup, Mohamed Ouédraogo, Kaïl Boudache and Julien Duranville. This addition strengthens their development pathway.

Mbungu emerged as a standout of his age group last season, impressing in National 3 for Caen’s reserves with 19 appearances and three goals.

He drew interest from French clubs including PSG, and from RB Leipzig and Dortmund, yet opted for Lyon’s sporting project.

He is set to begin with Gueïda Fofana’s reserve side, while Paulo Fonseca’s staff monitor his progress. The club view his high-potential profile as aligned with their new recruitment strategy.
