Lyon ‘interested in’ Brighton midfielder Matt O’Riley

Lyon are interested in Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Matt O’Riley, 25, according to Sky Sports.

The Denmark international is under contract until 2029 and is not in Fabian Hürzeler’s matchday squad for today’s Premier League home game against Aston Villa.

The report adds that O’Riley missed part of Brighton’s pre-season after returning from illness.

O’Riley is familiar with French football. Last season he joined Marseille on loan to work again with former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi, then in charge at the club.

He made 25 appearances, recorded one goal and six assists, and the season-long loan was cut short in February.
