Olympique Lyonnais make the trip to Azerbaijan to face Qarabag without Wilfried Zaha and Gift Obran. The pair have been dropped by Pierre Sage, who has a wealth of attacking options at his disposal.
Lyon, for financial reasons as well as sporting reasons, have to trim their squad in January and Sage’s squad selection for the UEFA Europa League tie against Qarabag evidences that. There is no room in the squad for Orban or Zaha and both have remained in France, rather than making the trip with their teammates.
There are no major injury concerns for Les Gones, who are looking to return to winning ways in the Europa League. Alexandre Lacazette will lead the line and will be flanked by Rayan Cherki and Malick Fofana, both of whom, despite the rotation, have emerged as the first-choice options for Lyon.
