Manchester City have seen their opening bid to sign Olympique Lyonnais’ Rayan Cherki (21) rejected, according to a report from Sacha Tavolieri.
Fabrizio Romano understands that Manchester City already have an agreement in place on personal terms with Cherki and so the Premier League side must now find an agreement with his club, Lyon. Florian Plettenberg understand that OL’s valuation of the maverick playmaker is between €35-40m. However, the Cityzens’ first bid falls significantly short of this reported valuation.
Tavolieri understands that Manchester City’s opening offer was worth just €23m. As a result, this bid has been rejected. Cherki is, however, Manchester City’s priority target in this position and so it is expected that an improved bid will soon arrive. The Premier League club are looking to quickly get a deal done for the player, who has just received his first France call-up, in order to have him operational for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.
