Malick Fofana’s Lyon comeback has slipped behind schedule, with the 20-year-old yet to be named in a matchday squad after an early March target.

The winger suffered a severe ankle sprain at the end of October and was taken off on a stretcher before undergoing successful surgery. L’Équipe reports that an MRI last week confirmed his ligaments have healed, although he has required injections to manage lingering pain.

Those injections should aid his recovery, and there is a chance he could make the group to face Paris FC on Sunday.

If that does not happen, he is expected to be available against Le Havre AC the following week.

Time is tight for Fofana, who will also want to feature in Belgium’s upcoming internationals to strengthen his case for a place in Rudi Garcia’s World Cup squad.
