Het Nieuwsblad are reporting that, due to the injury concerns surrounding Hungarian keeper Peter Gulacsi, Genk’s goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt may make the move to Germany at the end of this season, a year earlier than planned. Vandevoordt signed a deal with RB Leipzig in April of 2022, but part of the agreement included that the transfer could go through in 2023 rather than the summer of 2024.

The 20 year-old goalkeeper is one of the top performing keepers in the league, with his Genk side being top of the league and boasting the best defence. Genk are the only side in the league not to have reached 20 goals conceded for the season.

Following the World Cup break, Genk suffered a surprise defeat to relegation threatened Kortrijk. However, they followed that up with a convincing 3-1 win over defending champions Club Brugge.
