The Madrid Provincial Court has removed José Ángel Sánchez and Real Madrid Estadio SL from the case over concerts at the Santiago Bernabéu. The club said the ruling found neither bore criminal liability and that promoters are responsible for meeting noise limits.
The decision ends proceedings against Sánchez and Real Madrid Estadio SL. It relates to criminal responsibility only and does not resolve proven breaches of Madrid City Council noise rules.
The Bernabéu has, in practice, been unable to host concerts since September 2024, when the club suspended its programme amid the judicial investigation.
The court set out that concert promoters, who take on the stadium and stage each event, must ensure compliance with ambient sound decibel limits.
The complaint was filed by the Asociación Vecinal de Perjudicados por el Bernabéu along with six neighbours against José Ángel Sánchez Periáñez and Real Madrid Estadio SL.
The case now continues in the courts with the promoters as defendants, while Real Madrid has yet to present the acoustic measures implemented at the Bernabéu to contain sound and reduce noise on surrounding streets.
