Mahamadou Diawara to join Red Star on loan with option to buy | OneFootball

Mahamadou Diawara, 21, is due to join Red Star on loan from Lyon, with an option to buy worth one and a half million euros, as he arrives in Paris on Monday evening.

According to L'Équipe, the Ligue 2 side will pay 60% of his wages, with Lyon covering the remaining 40%.

Diawara joined Lyon in June 2023 from PSG on his first professional contract but has not established himself, making 16 appearances in total.

He spent recent seasons on loan at Le Havre, playing 15 times, then at Royal Antwerp in Belgium, where he featured in 9 matches.

Out of Paulo Fonseca’s plans, he had been training apart alongside fellow unwanted players Paulo Akouokou and Duje Caleta-Car. Courted in Portugal this summer, he chose another spell in France and remains under contract with Lyon until June 2028.
