Mahmutovic extends with FC Bayern Women | OneFootball

Goalkeeper Ena Mahmutovic has signed a contract extension with FC Bayern Women until 2029. The 22-year-old Germany international moved to Munich in summer 2024 from Duisburg and has won back-to-back domestic doubles, plus two Supercups.

Rech: ‘Outstanding qualities’

Bianca Rech, FC Bayern director of women’s football: “We’re very happy that Ena has extended her contract until 2029. It’s a valuable signal for the continued development of our team. A solid, first-class number one is always a central foundation for that. Ena has continually improved since her move to us two years ago and shows both on and off the pitch the levels of professionalism and ambition she works with. Despite her young age, she already shows remarkable calm in her game and generally has outstanding qualities. She’s got quick reactions, is brave and can play too. We firmly believe she has a big future at Bayern. This extension is an important element of our long-term squad planning and shows the great trust that we place in Ena and what Ena sees at Bayern.”

Mahmutovic: ‘Still want to achieve a lot with Bayern’

Ena Mahmutovic: “I’m really happy to have extended my contract with Bayern. I feel really good here and have already had two great years where I’ve been able to develop in both a sporting and personal sense. The move to Munich was a brave step at the time, but it was absolutely the right decision for me. The team and the environment made it very easy for me to settle in. I feel at home now. We’ve got big aims for the future. My big goal is to win a European trophy with Bayern and win even more titles on the domestic front. I’m excited for the years ahead and continuing to be a part of this special club.”

Bundesliga debut at 16

Born on 23 December 2003, Mahmutovic joined the academy of her hometown club Duisburg in 2014 and worked her way up to the first team, where she made her Bundesliga debut at the age of 16 on 30 May 2020, although that was as an outfield player due to a shortage of players. She went on to establish herself as first-choice goalkeeper at Duisburg before her move to Munich on an initial deal until June 2027. Mahmutovic made her competitive Bayern debut against Eintracht Frankfurt on 3 November 2024. Her first senior call-up for Germany came in early 2023 before her debut against Italy in December 2024 and featuring in Germany’s squad at Euro 2025.
