Mahrez offered to Roma as winger seeks Europe return | OneFootball

Riyad Mahrez could return to Europe, and his name has also been linked to Roma.

After three seasons in Saudi Arabia, the Algerian winger is a free agent and, according to Saudi press reports, is ready to return to European football.

At 35, Mahrez is reportedly targeting Serie A, eager to experience the Italian league for the first time.

Among the clubs he’s been linked to are Roma and Como, although the Lombardy club’s sporting director, Carlalberto Ludi, has denied any direct contact.

This isn’t a new name for the Giallorossi. Roma had already attempted to bring Mahrez to the capital in the summer of 2017, when the Algerian was still playing for Leicester City.

The deal fell through, and the winger subsequently moved to Manchester City.

Now, nine years later, his name is once again being linked with the Giallorossi. Mahrez is reportedly prioritizing the possibility of joining a competitive project over financial considerations. He has made 119 appearances for Algeria, scoring 40 goals.
