Chelsea have been long term admirers of both Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton, but it’s unclear if they’re prepared to spend big money on a midfielder according to reports.

The Blues had a quiet January in which they made no signings, but the summer will no doubt be different, with Chelsea expected to be active.

Having missed out on a centre back in January, the Blues will almost certainly look to fill that position, whilst a midfielder is also believed to high on the list.

Despite the summer window still being a number of months away, work is already well underway on potential targets, with the Blues looking to strengthen in a number of positions.

Chelsea have been linked with the likes of Julian Alvarez and Bart Verbruggen, but it remains to be seen who they will target.

It’s been reported a midfielder is a priority as the Blues look to ease the burden on both Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez.

Mail Sport have reported the Blues have been long term admirers of both Wharton and Anderson, but it’s unclear if the club would be willing to spend big on the midfield position again.

Romeo Lavia back in training

One of the reasons Chelsea are said to be looking for a new midfielder is because of the injury issues of Romeo Lavia.

Lavia has made just 30 appearances for the Blues since joining in 2023 from Southampton, and is yet to complete a 90 minutes for the club.

However, after getting injured against Qarabag in November he’s now back in training, but Rosenior hasn’t given a return date, with Chelsea likely to be very cautious with the Belgian.
