Major Blow for Lotito as Early Lazio Season Ticket Numbers Revealed

Lazio’s organised fan groups have followed through on their pledge, with early season ticket renewals collapsing amid an ongoing boycott of club president Claudio Lotito.

Il Messaggero reports that more than 30,000 fans bought season tickets last season despite the transfer ban, yet fewer than 500 have renewed so far, with the final figure estimated at around 900.

That would equate to less than three percent renewing, a new low in Lotito’s 22-year era, worse than 2016 when only 6,000 were sold.

Supporters have been staying away from home games since January in protest at the president and his policies. Last month the groups vowed to refuse season tickets, cancel TV subscriptions, shun Forza Italia candidates, and boycott businesses linked to Lotito and his family.

The financial hit is hard to quantify, but estimates suggest a six to seven million shortfall versus last season from season ticket income alone. Matchday takings from merchandise and services are also likely to suffer, and the Stadio Olimpico will be almost deserted save for the two Derby della Capitale against Roma.
