Ignacio Malcorra will join Independiente after failing to agree a new deal with Rosario Central, leaving him a free agent.
According to SuperDepor.com, the move was settled in recent days after offers and counter-offers, with head coach Gustavo Quinteros approving the signing. His backing surprised 'Rojo' supporters as he pushed for the arrival of the 38-year-old former 'Canalla'.
The agreement is for a one-year contract linked to performance objectives, with an option to extend by a further year based on output.
Malcorra bade farewell on social media, thanking club staff, team-mates and directors, and reflecting on the bond formed in Arroyito, where he became a key figure.
He leaves Central with 138 appearances, 22 goals and 25 assists, plus two trophies, the Copa de la Liga 2023 and the 2025 league title.
Now he starts a new challenge in Avellaneda, aiming to bring leadership and craft as Independiente build for 2026.
