Mallorca have dismissed Jagoba Arrasate, confirming his departure at 21:50 on Monday.

The club said in a statement that his tenure had ended after a review of the sporting situation, expressing gratitude to Arrasate and his staff and wishing them well. The decision was taken by sporting director Pablo Ortells.

A run of three defeats, capped by Sunday’s 2-0 loss at Celta in Vigo, has left the team in the relegation places.

Across his spell, Mallorca struggled to meet expectations and rarely showed the hallmarks of his teams, uncomfortable for opponents, front-foot in attack and pressing aggressively after losing the ball.

Arrasate will address the media at Son Moix at 12:30 on Tuesday.

The identity of his successor remains to be confirmed.

Attention now turns to Saturday’s crucial meeting with Real Sociedad at Son Moix at 18.30, with owner Andy Kohlberg in the directors’ box.
