Chelsea defender Malo Gusto insists the squad need the fans to get behind them as they try to become the first side to win all three European competitions.
Chelsea go into their Conference League quarter-final second leg tie against Legia Warsaw on Thursday evening three goals ahead of the Polish side.
The Blues are the favourites to win the competition but there has still been negativity amongst the fans after their draw with Ipswich last weekend.
“The fans were a bit upset about the way that we finished the second half against Ipswich and we can understand that but now the thing for us is to try to get them behind us, to give them back that desire to support Chelsea and that is what we are going to do.
“For sure we need the fans and we need to show on that pitch that we are Chelsea and we are going to win everything.”
The Frenchman added, “You hear them and you can say the fans were not behind us but we play for Chelsea, we all come to the stadium to support this team and our job as players is to win games.”
Chelsea currrently sit in sixth place, outside the Champions League positions but the defender still believes that his side can get into the top four.
“Top four is our target for sure, we would enjoy it but to get there we have to win game after game, that will be the most important thing for us to continue to build something.
“We have to stay to stay focused on our plan, we have a lot of qualities in this group so I am sure we will finish in our target position and we will give our best to do that.”
Chelsea can become the first team to win all three major European competitions but Gusto says he is not thinking about that right now.
“We are not really thinking about this at this moment of the season, especially now because of our position.
“The most important thing is to win game after game, to go step by step other wise it becomes too complicated.”
