Chelsea defender Malo Gusto has discussed life under new manager Liam Rosenior and also hailed Moises Caicedo as the best midfielder in the world.

Chelsea defeated Pafos 1-0 in the Champions League, with the only goal of the game coming from Caicedo. Asked if the Ecuadorian is one of the best midfielders in the world after the match, Gusto insisted: “Yeah, he is. He’s the best for sure.”

Caicedo’s winning goal gave new Chelsea manager Rosenior his first-ever Champions League victory. It also takes the Blues to three wins from four matches since the Englishman took charge at Stamford Bridge.

“It’s a new era, new tactics, new things to improve,” Gusto said of his new boss. “But I think everyone here is happy to have him on the team.

“So yeah, that’s our job now to put everything together. To start to build something as a team and to perform as much as possible.”

On the differences between Rosenior and former manager Enzo Maresca, Gusto admitted: “Maybe he’s kind of similar.

“Maybe he said to me to be a bit more free. To change my position during the game. Sometimes I can go pocket, sometimes I can go wide. Yeah, he’s maybe more free on the pitch.

“But it’s almost the same way to play, which is good, I think, because it’s not like a lot of changes for us.”

The France international continued: “I do like to attack, of course. That’s my type of game that I prefer. So, yeah, I really enjoy playing in this system.

“Be more free, maybe. That’s something that I really like. So now it’s my job to keep improving, to start helping the team as much as possible.”
