On Wednesday morning, a new defensive candidate emerged for Real Sociedad, Mamadou Sarr of Chelsea. The Senegalese centre-back, aged 20, spent last season on loan at Strasbourg.

According to AS, La Real want Sarr on a loan deal, while Al-Hilal are also attempting to sign the defender, and clubs are currently in talks.

Chelsea signed Sarr in June 2025 from Racing Club de Estrasburgo for 20 million euros, agreeing an eight-year contract to 2033. He is regarded as one of the most promising defenders in French football.

His name joins a growing shortlist that includes Lautaro Rivero, Edson Álvarez, Ladislav Krejcí, Lutsharel Geertruida and Héctor Fort. These options have surfaced in recent hours for Pellegrino Matarazzo’s squad.

Barcelona’s Héctor Fort would be of interest on the right flank if Rupérez returns to Sanse.
