Mamelodi Sundowns moved to the summit of the Betway Premiership table after a commanding 4-1 win over Richards Bay FC on Saturday.

The defending champions broke the deadlock at Lucas Moripe Stadium through winger Tashreeq Matthews in the 15th minute.

It didn’t take long for Masandawana to double their lead as defender Malibongwe Khoza beat Ian Otieno in the Natal Rich Boys' goal 12 minutes later.

Prolific frontman Iqraam Rayners scored the third goal from the spot on the stroke of halftime after Gabadinho Mhango had reduced the deficit in the half-hour mark.

Matthews completed the rout as he netted his second of the match in the 62nd minute to put the game to bed.

Sundowns have picked up 21 points in 10 league outings and have a one-point lead over second-placed Sekhukhune United, who fell to Polokwane City for their first league defeat of the season earlier in the day.

Meanwhile, Downs’ new marquee signing Nuno Santos made his full debut for the club as he was named on the starting XI.

The Portuguese playmaker arrived from Liga Portugal side Vitoria Guimaraes on a reported deal worth 1 million (R20 million).
