Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize's club Mbabane Highlanders have been slapped with heavy sanctions by the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Disciplinary Committee.
This comes after alleged Highlanders' supporters threw missiles, invaded the pitch to assault referee Celumusa Siphepho in their Ingwenyama Cup last 16 clash against Nsingizini Hotspurs last month.
The match was interrupted with a minute to play at the Mavuso Sports Centre, eventually forcing the abandonment of the cup tie.
Highlanders were found guilty of causing the abandonment of the match, and were subsequently fined E25 000 (R25 000) and E50 000 (R50 000) for attacking match officials.
The ‘Black Bull’, as the club is affectionately known, were also kicked out of the Ingwenyama Cup by forfeiture, ending their trophy ambitions this season.
MaMkhize's team was also fined E3 000 (R3000) for failing to control their supporters, with the charges reportedly amounting to E50 000 (R50 000) said to be running concurrently .
Meanwhile, Highlanders are involved in a relegation scrap as they sit 11th, two points above the drop zone in the 16-team championship that relegates three teams.
The club's last league victory dates back to 24 January 2026 against Amawele, which has rang alarm bells of a potential relegation for the first time since 2013.
